Mum Walk is here to change the way Aussie mums walk through motherhood. We’re a mum-led movement on a mission to make sure no mum walks through motherhood alone.

Mum Walk offers free weekly walks and stay-and-plays for mums to find their people, move their bodies and feel good. We support mums to find, join or start a pram walking group, making finding local connections and community easier than ever!

We know that motherhood isn’t just one of the hardest jobs in the world - it can also be one of the loneliest.

Modern motherhood has forced too many of us mums to face the monumental shift of becoming a mum alone. 90% of mums report feeling lonely after birth, and 1 in 5 mums will experience postpartum depression or anxiety, with isolation being a key risk factor.

This crisis in connection is part of the wider loneliness epidemic facing all Australians. For mums, it looks like feeling disconnected and isolated; being left to watch motherhood through an endless scroll of someone else's highlight reels, wondering “am I doing this all wrong?”.

At Mum Walk, we know that connection and community IS essential postpartum care.

Mum Walk was born from one lonely mum’s call out for local connections and has grown into a national movement of over 50 Mum Walks across Australia.

Our free weekly walks combine being out in nature, gentle postpartum-friendly movement and guaranteed social connection, a proven model to improve your mental health.

Together, we’re bringing the joy back to motherhood - one step at a time.

The Mum Walk Birth Story

After spending her first maternity leave mostly alone due to the pandemic, and struggling through early-parenthood, Mum Walk founder Kimberly was determined to do things differently with her second child.

Having moved to a brand new city on the other side of the world, she was determined to experience a more joyful first year of parenthood.

She knew the key to that was making local connections and she wasn’t willing to leave it up to chance encounters at playgrounds or playgroups to slowly build up her village.

So Mum Walk was created to invite local mums to casual and consistent meet-ups to build real connections quickly and effortlessly. It’s a safe, shame-free space where mums can connect and share their experiences - while getting in some gentle exercise and a much needed cuppa!

As Mum Walk began, she quickly learnt that so many mums were craving the same thing - and so Mum Walk grew into a centralised platform for anyone to start their own walk from anywhere.

Who Mum Walk is for

Mum Walk is for any mum who is looking for local connections. We’re here to make sure no one walks alone in early parenthood. Mums who attend are often:

  • Mums who missed out on first-time mums groups or moved to the area after

  • Mums with multiple kids and their original mums group are back at work

  • Mirgants and expats who wern’t able to join mothers groups and are most at need of community

  • Mums who’s mothers groups just didn’t gel or initiate consistent meet-ups

  • Mums who have struggled to prioritise movement post-partum and are encouraged by the gentle approach to exercise Baby Walk offers.

We also get a lot of mums from mothers groups who use the event as their way to meet up without having to plan activities themselves. Its a great addition to the offering as a way to ensure mothers groups can build and grow connections after their sessions end.

Amy, Mum Walker

“Mum Walk is the highlight of my week! Amongst all the chaos, I know there’s a group I can rely on every week to laugh and cry with through the ups-and-downs of the baby days.”
