90% of mums report feeling lonely after birth.
Mothers are at the epicentre of the loneliness epidemic. It's time to fill the connection gap now — so that no mum walks through motherhood alone.
The first national look at motherhood loneliness
Mum Walk have launched their first-ever report into motherhood loneliness and isolation — and the results reveal a shocking, urgent truth: loneliness in motherhood is the norm, not the exception.
Across the country, thousands of mums aren't given access to options to connect with other mothers. Many are turned away from services like mums' groups because they are full — or worse, because those groups have disappeared entirely. The support system that should hold new mothers is leaving thousands of them on their own.
We can't leave motherhood connection to chance. If we want to solve this crisis, we need to rebuild our maternal support systems — which is why we're calling for the extension of policy and funding across the maternal health system to include more ways for mothers to connect.
